Lunch and Learn

Each month, we offer you the opportunity to share lunch and health information with a physician or health care professional. A box lunch is served. These sessions begin at 11:30 a.m.and last till 1 p.m.

Spotlight on Shingles

Shingles can be very painful and can cause serious health complications. About half of the nearly one million shingles cases in the U.S. each year occur in people 60 years of age and older. Making informed decisions about your health starts with knowing your risk and having the facts. Box lunches will be provided.

Medication Matters

Vitamins, supplements, over-the-counter drugs and prescription medications all interact with one another – increasing potential side effects and affecting the way they work. Join us and learn more about medication management, including drug interactions, foods to avoid or include, and herbal and vitamin supplements.

AARP Drivers Safety Course

This four-hour training will help you tune up your driving skills, update your knowledge of the rules of the road, learn about normal age-related physical changes and ways to adjust for these changes and reduce traffic violations, crashes and chances for injuries. Some insurance companies also offer a discount to participants.

The Fallout: Coping with Sinus Problems in the Fall

Many people attribute sinus problems to the spring, however, fall is also a major challenge for sinus sufferers. Mold, weed allergens and the use of heating systems can trigger sinus problems for many people. Join Dr. Gold for lunch and a discussion about the causes of sinus problems, effective treatments, and how you can prevent them before they start. Box lunches will be provided.

These programs are offered as a public service to the St. Louis community by Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Unless otherwise noted, programs are free-of-charge and reservations are required. A Candid Discussion about Women’s Gynecological Health Issues

Every Second Counts with Stroke Treatment

With a stroke, you essentially have a four-and-one-half hour window before risking irreparable damage to the brain. Time lost is brain lost. Therefore, every second counts. Recognize the warning signs and you could save someone’s life or maybe even your own. Join our panel of medical experts as they discuss the importance of emergency medical treatment, how to diagnose stroke, various treatment options and the rehabilitation process. Attendees also will receive blood pressure readings. Refreshments will be served.
