The Breast HealthCare Center at Missouri Baptist recently joined an elite group of comprehensive breast care centers recognized as a Level IV Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence by the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
The designation, based on the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers, is the program’s highest recognition. Only 14 other comprehensive breast care centers in the U.S. share this designation.
The National Quality Measures for Breast Centers were developed from the Health Care Advisory Board’s Clinical Quality Dashboard for breast centers, published in 2004. The measures reflect several years of work, which culminated in the adoption of more than 30 national quality measures.
“Our recent Breast Center recognition as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence by NQMBC speaks to our continued commitment as a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest quality breast care for our patients at Missouri Baptist Medical Center,” says Geoffrey Hamill, MD, Breast HealthCare Center medical director and mammography and breast imaging section chief.
Dr. Hamill cited Debra Rempinski, Breast HealthCare Center data analyst, for preparing and submitting the application to the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
“I am so thrilled about this certification. It takes a minimum of three years to achieve the highest level of NQMBC’s certification of Quality Breast Center of Excellence — it cannot be achieved any faster,” Rempinski says. “So, receiving this certification in three years is a testament to the excellent care we give our patients.”
