The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) is celebrating ‘Kids East Right’ Month this August. This is the time to renew your efforts for healthy eating for you and your family.
The AND suggests that when it comes to your kids you need to ‘Shop Smart’, ‘Cook Healthy’ and ‘Eat Right’.
Shop smart by including your children in your grocery shopping so they have some ‘say’ in choosing the healthy foods and planning the family’s weekly meals.
Cook healthy by including your children in the chopping, mixing and preparation of meals. This makes family meals more fun and encourages children to try new foods.
Eat right means sitting down as a family whether it’s at the family dining table or an after school picnic at the school parking lot. Include a balance of colorful fruits and vegetables and whole grains as part of the meal.
