Missouri Baptist Medical Center First in the Region to Perform Innovative Heart Procedure with New Sapien 3 Valve

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is the first heart center in the region, and one of the first in the nation, to perform a percutaneous implantation (a needle puncture of the skin, rather than an “open” approach) of a newly approved valve to fix a heart valve that was surgically implanted 13 years ago. This new valve allowed the surgeon and cardiologist to treat the patient with a transcatheter valve-in-valve replacement, instead of performing open-heart surgery.
