Fatigue: Facts and Fiction

Everyone experiences fatigue at some point, but according to sleep expert Shiraz Daud, MD, ongoing fatigue may indicate a more serious problem. “A major myth about fatigue is that it’s normal and just related to a busy lifestyle,” said Dr. Daud, a pulmonologist at Missouri Baptist Medical Center and fellowship-trained sleep medicine specialist. “In reality, fatigue can signal medical problems.”
Stress.  It’s something everybody has, and it can be difficult to avoid. How we deal with stress affects our happiness and our overall health.  At times, seeing a counselor may be helpful or even sometimes medication may be indicated, but almost always, a lifestyle change will help. One such option includes a routine exercise program.
Patients with congested nasal passages often assume they have a sinus infection or 'sinusitis." Inflamed nasal passages actually can be caused by allergies or viral colds. Physicians, therefore, generally limit the definition of sinusitis to bacterial infection of the sinuses.
