Anchoring the Regional Safety Net -- $25 million

Donations

Subsidized services $21.1 million
Emergency response planning $1.3 million
Donations $2.9 million
Total $25.3 million

As corporate citizens, BJC and its member hospitals give generously to other local nonprofit organizations and causes that seek to improve community health or raise funds for research. Giving takes the form of direct donations, event support and in-kind services. Some of the many local agencies that have benefited include Annie Malone Children and Family Services, CORO, St. Louis Crisis Nursery, Forest Park Forever, National Kidney Foundation and March of Dimes.

BJC hospitals contribute to the community through sponsorship of events such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, American Heart Association Heart Walk and American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

In addition to institutional support, BJC employees support their communities through donations and countless volunteer hours. In 2007, BJC employees contributed a $1 million pledge to the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the Jewish Federation.
