Cancer Support Center

Our Cancer Support Center at the Cancer Center at Missouri Baptist focuses on cancer diagnosis, treatment, emotional support and community resources. Its primary mission is to empower patients, family members and the general public by providing information about cancer in a quiet, comfortable environment.

Located in the Cancer Center's waiting room, our Cancer Support Center is staffed by specialists and trained volunteers, who are former cancer patients or have experienced cancer within their families. This provides the visitor an ally who can truly relate to feelings about cancer and uncertainty about the future.

Our Professional Staff:

Amy Eilers, MSW, Supervisor, Oncology Social Services
Barb Goldberg, Information Specialist, Cancer Support Center

Additional Resources and Therapies

  • A Library of Resources—including brochures, books, CDs and DVDs about family coping, dealing with side effects of treatment and practical suggestions for daily living. Resources are also available to connect patients, families and survivors with support groups in the community.
  • "Look Good, Feel Better"—an American Cancer Society sponsored program presented monthly for women undergoing treatment for cancer. In addition, the center provides free wigs, turbans and samples of nutritional supplements to individuals undergoing cancer therapy.
  • Complementary Therapy—including massage therapy and art therapy is coordinated through the Cancer Center for patients and family members.
  • Healing Garden—an on campus space designed a peaceful retreat for patients. When possible, patients may receive treatments by the side of our reflecting pool. Our infusion areas are equipped with wireless internet for patients and loved ones. And, our Cancer Support Center is there to answer any questions to help you and your family throughout this journey.

Cancer Rehabilitation

Cancer rehabilitation is very similar to other forms of rehabilitation after a serious illness or injury. As with the rehab of any other illness or injury, the goal of cancer rehab is to improve independence, decrease pain, and promote overall function regardless of the level of disability.

Missouri Baptist Medical Center’s cancer rehabilitation program provides you with coordinated cancer rehab supported by a team of specially trained and certified clinicians and providers.
