A Lifelong Connection Inspires Giving Back Through Champions for Care

Missouri Baptist Medical Center and BJC HealthCare have always been a part of Linda Martinez’s life.

Linda was born at Missouri Baptist Hospital when it was in the city of St. Louis, her mother graduated from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing, her father trained as a doctor at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and she currently serves on MoBap’s Community Advisory Board. When Linda needed lifesaving surgery, she didn’t hesitate. She chose Missouri Baptist, describing MoBap as “an amazing place with an incredible support system, state-of-the-art equipment and the best nurses and doctors who care for patients and their families.”

Wanting to give back for the exceptional care she received, Linda turned to Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation’s Champions for Care program. Each year, the Champions collectively designate their giving to one fundraising project that will improve patient care and enhance the patient experience.

Supporting Lifesaving Care

“Champions” are donors who give $500 or more annually. Since 2016, Champions for Care has provided much-needed equipment, education and lifesaving screenings. In 2023, Champions for Care raised $192,000 to purchase new patient recovery recliners for the orthopedic department. This year, Champions for Care is raising $200,000 to help fund a modernized and expanded neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The Power of Shared Giving

As an annual donor, Linda says the Champions program is close to her heart. “I donate to Champions for Care because I want to help ensure that others receive the same excellent care that I did,” she explains. “I especially like the collective nature of the Champions program, which allows me to contribute alongside other donors toward a larger goal and see how our efforts directly impact patients. This program is a perfect example of how every dollar makes a difference!”

Join Champions for Care and help us fund a modernized and expanded NICU.

Your support will make a lasting difference, helping babies grow strong and families feel supported. Be a part of building brighter futures—one newborn at a time.
