Champions For Care

Become a Champion today

At Missouri Baptist Medical Center, we place a premium on delivering compassionate care to our patients. To make that possible, we need a team of caring and generous donors. We hope you’ll consider partnering with a special group of MoBap donors called Champions for Care.

How can I become a Champion?

Each year, Champions designate their giving to a fundraising project that elevates the quality of patient care at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. A Champion for Care is a MoBap donor who commits to a gift of $500 or more. The gift can be paid outright, semiannually, quarterly, or monthly. Gifts can be made according to your giving preference.

2026 project goal

This year, Champions are coming together to support the purchase of new clinical recliners for MoBap’s medical-surgical unit, where 65% of the patients admitted to MoBap spend time.

Standardizing access to clinical recliners across all medical-surgical unit rooms increases patient comfort and safety while promoting mobility and improving clinical outcomes.

Support from Champions will help purchase 216 new clinical recliners ($4,568 per recliner) to ensure every patient has access to a recliner and its benefits.

This project will help patients, families, and caregivers in the following ways:

Patient safety and mobility

  • Supports mobility, which helps reduce complications such as pneumonia, pressure injuries, and blood clots
  • Reduces fall risk
  • Ensures consistent equipment across the unit so caregivers can mobilize patients without delays

Clinical outcomes

  • Patient mobility is associated with faster recovery, shorter length of stay, and lower readmission rate
  • Improved ability for patients to sit upright, which supports lung expansion and circulation

Patient and family experience

  • Helps patients to sit upright during meals, therapy, and visits with loved ones
  • Promotes independence and dignity during hospitalization
  • Provides visitors with a comfortable option when they remain with patients, including use of recliner as a sleeper chair during extended stay

The selected recliners are designed specifically for clinical care environments and include:

  • 600-pound weight capacity
  • Wide seat and chaise-lounge design
  • Dual fold-down transfer arms
  • Removable back and seat for cleaning and infection prevention
  • Hydraulic recline
  • Integrated safety features, including fully locking wheels and hooks for patient drainage bags

Past Projects

Missouri Baptist Healthcare Foundation and Champions for Care donors have a long, proud history of supporting a spectrum of health care needs. Since 2016, Champions have provided needed equipment, education, access to excellent health care, and lifesaving screenings.
