Missouri Baptist Medical Center earns high marks in latest U.S. News & World Report rankings

U.S. News & World Report has released the 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings for adult hospitals. (Pediatric hospital ratings will be released later this fall.) Once again, Missouri Baptist Medical Center earned the No. 2 ranking (tie) in both Missouri and the St. Louis region. 

“We are proud to see our East Region and West Region hospitals recognized by U.S. News & World Report,” said Rich Liekweg, BJC Health System CEO. “This well-deserved recognition is a testament to our organization’s mission of improving health care across the Midwest. We are grateful to our Washington University School of Medicine team members, our community physicians, and our caregivers across BJC for delivering extraordinary care to our patients.”

The U.S. News adult hospital methodology ranks 15 clinical specialties (such as cancer, cardiology/heart surgery, orthopedics, etc.) and rates 20 Common Care Procedures and Conditions (such as heart failure and joint replacements).

For the clinical specialty rankings, Missouri Baptist Medical Center was recognized as high performing in four specialties:

  • Gastroenterology and GI Surgery
  • Geriatrics
  • Neurology & Neurosurgery
  • Urology

In the Common Care Procedures and Conditions ratings, Missouri Baptist received 14 high performing ratings:

  • Aortic Valve Surgery
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • Heart Attack
  • Heart Bypass Surgery
  • Heart Failure
  • Hip Replacement
  • Kidney Failure
  • Knee Replacement
  • Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma
  • Lung Cancer Surgery
  • Pneumonia
  • Prostate Cancer Surgery
  • Stroke

“High performing” status is granted to the top 10% of all evaluated hospitals.

Overall, BJC Health System hospitals earned a total of 68 high performing ratings, including additional high-performing marks for Alton Memorial Hospital (1), Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital (2), Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (4), Christian Hospital (6), Memorial Hospital (2), Saint Luke’s North Hospital (1) and Saint Luke’s South Hospital (4).

The rankings have been published on U.S. News & World Report’s website, usnews.com/besthospitals, and will appear in the magazine’s August issue.
