Missouri Baptist Medical Center Ranks Among Top Local and Regional Hospitals

On Aug. 1, U.S. News & World Report released its list of the 2023-2024 best hospitals. For the seventh consecutive year, Missouri Baptist secured the No. 2 ranking in the metro St. Louis area and moved up in the rankings from No. 3 to No. 2 in Missouri.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 34th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. In addition to the overall ranking, U.S. News ranks clinical specialties and rates common care procedures and conditions. Missouri Baptist was recognized as “high performing” in the following three specialties:

  • Gastroenterology and GI Surgery
  • Geriatrics
  • Urology

Missouri Baptist also rated “high performing” in 15 procedures and conditions:

  • Aortic Valve Surgery
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack
  • Heart Bypass Surgery
  • Heart Failure
  • Hip Replacement
  • Kidney Failure
  • Knee Replacement
  • Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma
  • Lung Cancer Surgery
  • Pneumonia
  • Prostate Cancer Surgery
  • Stroke

Rating as “high performing” acknowledges the hospital is in the top 10% of all evaluated hospitals for that specialty or procedure and condition.

Multiple BJC HealthCare hospitals have been ranked by U.S. News & World Report, led by Barnes-Jewish Hospital and its physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine on the prestigious national Honor Roll of “Best Hospitals” and ranked as No. 1 in Missouri and No. 1 in the metro St. Louis area.

“We are pleased to once again have several BJC hospitals recognized by U.S. News & World Report,” says Rich Liekweg, BJC president and CEO. “This well-deserved recognition is a testament to our caregivers’ dedication to delivering extraordinary care throughout BJC’s hospitals and the legacy our hospitals have built in the region. We are proud of Barnes-Jewish, Missouri Baptist, Christian Hospital and all of our caregivers for serving our patients when they need us most.”

The rankings have been published on U.S. News & World Report’s website, usnews.com/besthospitals, and will appear in the magazine’s August issue.
