Vestibular Rehabilitation

The National Institute of Health reports dizziness and problems with balance as two of the most common patient complaints reported in physician offices. Ninety percent of all causes of dizziness can be identified and treated either medically, surgically, or with vestibular rehabilitation.

At Missouri Baptist Medical Center our vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) program can help patients compensate for inner ear deficits and treat a variety of vestibular and balance problems including:

  • Vertigo and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Unsteadiness, disequilibrium and dizziness
  • Falls
  • Impaired balance
  • Lack of coordination
  • Symptoms associated with Meniere’s Disease

A thorough evaluation by one of our highly trained physical therapists will use specialized assessment tools, valid patient questionnaires, and skilled observation of posture, balance, gait, and compensatory strategies to develop an individualized treatment plan.
