Nurses at Missouri Baptist Medical Center are helping transform health care. Through our Clinical Learning Institute, our nurses train to become some of the most advanced nurses in the industry. We offer externships, evidence-based research fellowships, nursing certifications, an RN-to-BSN program and academic partnerships for BSN and MSN degrees – all right here at MoBap.
Everyone practices to their fullest extent because our nurses at all levels have a voice. Every role helps establish the structures and processes we practice. Our Professional Practice Model, which shapes our care delivery, includes seven committees that nurses can join.
Nurse Executive Council: The Nurse Executive Council is the coordinating council for the GAPN structure. The council is composed of the chairs of all other GAPN organizational councils, our nursing directors, nursing support staff and our Chief Nurse Executive. The council is responsible for development of the nursing strategic plan for MoBap. All nursing system initiatives and nursing practice recommendations are addressed by this council prior to implementation.
Management Council: The Nursing Management Council is composed of members of the nursing leadership team from all levels and areas of the organization. They have oversight for nursing reward and recognition as well as recruitment and retention. The council is also responsible for leadership peer review, orientation and mentorship for our new leaders.
Advanced Practice Nurse Council: The Advanced Practice Nurse Council is responsible for the credentialing and privileging process for our advanced practice nurses at Missouri Baptist in conjunction with our Medical Staff Office. This council will establish the competencies for APRNs at MoBap as well as the ongoing peer review process.
Professional Development Council: This council seeks to promote professional development and continuing education to MBMC nurses at all levels. The council will develop and implement programs and systems to help our nurses further their education or earn certifications. The Professional Development Council will also be responsible for developing orientation and preceptor programs designed to recruit and retain nurses.
Professional Practice Council: The Professional Practice Council seeks to elevate and promote the practice of nursing to the full extent of their licensure and education. This council will be responsible for setting and maintaining the standards of practice for professional nursing and utilizing best practice to ensure current policies and procedures.
Nursing Quality and Safety Council: The Nursing Quality and Safety Council evaluates and measures the quality of the care provided by nurses to our patients every day. The council will also be responsible for developing and implementing measures to ensure not only safe patient care, but also a safe work environment for our staff.
Information and Technology Council: The Information and Technology Council will optimize our informatics and documentation processes to promote optimal patient care and outcomes. This council will also review new technology that will be considered for use in the hospital and will be responsible for revitalizing our nursing webpage.
Advancing Research and Evidence Based Practice Council: The Advancing Research and EBP Council will support nursing research and utilization of evidence-based practice throughout the hospital. The council will be responsible for reviewing research proposals, awarding funds and establishing research and EBP utilization goals for MoBap.
